Time is running out
In action together
The world is in distress: habitats are disappearing and species are rapidly becoming extinct. People are losing their homes and tens of thousands die every year due to climate disasters. Meanwhile, polluting companies make billions in profits. The government protects them and does too little about this crisis.
That’s why we take action. We demand that the government and big business take responsibility and do what is necessary.

Taking action works! This is how we force change
With disruptive and non-violent actions, we make ourselves heard. History, such as the women’s suffrage movement, shows that taking action makes big, fast change possible.
Who is extinction rebellion?
We are a diverse movement with people of all ages, backgrounds and experiences. What binds us together is that we are deeply concerned about the climate and nature crisis. Anyone who shares this concern and supports our demands and principles & values is welcome.

What I find so valuable about XR is working with like-minded people for a better future. But also mourning together for what we have already lost and will continue to lose.
Helena (31), joins actions
I often hear the criticism that XR consists mainly of white people. Being Surinamese myself, I don't let that stop me. We need everyone, including people of colour. Everyone should feel emboldened to work for our planet. The strength of XR is precisely that all layers of society are involved.

Extinction Rebellion consists of several groups that you can join. In a local group, for example, you help organise actions and events in your area. In other groups you work together with people from all over the country.
